Abstract

Recurrent dislocation of the peroneal tendons is uncommon but causes a significant ankle disability.Operation for recurrent dislocation of the peroneal tendons has been a controversial matter and various techniques have been described. The fibular grooving procedure seems to reproducibly alleviate the recurrent dislocation of peroneal tendons and diminish pain. We report the results of treatment of two patients with a fibular grooving and superior peroneal retinaculum repair for recurrent peroneal dislocation. Results were satisfactory in both patients. These procedures also allow retainment of motion and subsequent return to work and sports with a high satisfaction rate.
